When was the sway bar invented?

The first stabilizer bar patent was awarded to Canadian inventor Stephen Coleman of Fredericton,
New Brunswick on April 22, 1919.
Sway bars were uncommon on pre-
WWII cars due to stiffer suspension designs at the time,
but they became widely fitted on production cars starting from the 1950s,
especially those with softer coil spring suspensions.
